Wi-Fi and home networks

Wi-Fi that reaches the whole house and stays on, set up properly and explained until you’re comfortable.

What I set up

Dropped video calls and a dead back bedroom usually have a reason. I’ll find it before suggesting you buy anything.

  • Wi-Fi that drops or won’t reach
  • Coverage for the whole house
  • Home networks and wiring
  • Smart-home gear and home automation that work together

I come to you across Oakland, Macomb and Wayne counties, including Royal Oak, Warren and Chesterfield.

I come look at the house first, then tell you what’s worth doing and what isn’t.

Quoted after a look

Why Wi-Fi drops

It’s usually one of a few things:

  • Where the router sits. In a basement, a closet or a far corner, the signal has a long way to go.
  • What’s in the way. Plaster, brick, metal and floors between you and the router all weaken it.
  • Old equipment. A tired router can struggle with everything a house runs now.
  • The internet line itself. Sometimes Wi-Fi is fine and the problem is coming from your internet company.

Try this first

It costs nothing, and sometimes it’s all you need. Unplug your router and modem, wait 30 seconds, and plug them back in. Give them a few minutes to come back up.

If that solves it for a day and the trouble returns, or it doesn’t help at all, call me. A problem that keeps coming back is worth finding properly.

Questions people ask

Do I need to buy new equipment?

Not always. Sometimes moving what you have or fixing how it’s set up does the job. If new equipment is worth it, I’ll tell you what and why before you buy anything.

Should I call my internet company first?

If nothing will connect, even right next to the router, it’s worth checking whether they have an outage. If you’re not sure, call me anyway and we’ll work it out.

Can you run wires?

Yes, home networks and wiring are part of the job. I’ll look at the house first and tell you whether wires are worth it for yours.
